Producer SAP integration

Fireworkx has successfully assisted companies in their online procurement process by creating a direct link between the vendor's electronic product catalogues (shopping baskets) and the client's SAP procurement process through the use of the Producer Enterprise Edition Content Management System.
Fireworkx is one of the first development companies in South Africa to have done this and once again proves to be a leading force in innovation and the pursuit to deliver the best solutions for their clients.

Case Study: Waltons

Waltons asked Fireworkx to extend their offering by allowing corporate clients to access the Waltons' catalogue via their SAP Procurement systems. The procurement officer or staff member can select the required catalogue items and when 'checking out', these items are posted into SAP via the OCI Interface. They are then processed through their existing procurement channels.

How it works

A client selects a vendor catalogue from the SAP system. This opens the vendor's catalogue shopping website and passes a user name and password. The client then captures their account number and the system checks that the username, password and account details are correct and determines the type of catalogue the user has access to. Once this process has been completed, the catalogue and prices are displayed.

The user can select products and add them to the shopping cart. From the shopping cart, they can select to submit the order. The order is then saved for re-use in the future. If client so desires, a previous order can be selected to use as a template. This enables the user to conveniently choose the products they order on a regular basis and speed up the ordering process. Once the order is placed the system "posts" the list of products, prices, quantities etc. into the SAP system and the website session is ended.

Case Study: BHP Billiton

BHP Billiton has requested that Fireworkx provide the ability for their SAP users to create an order based on information from Barloworld Caterpillar Service Information System (CAT SIS).

Due to the current constraints of the CAT SIS environment, it was not possible to extract an XML file. Until such time as the XML interface has been integrated, the user logs into the CAT SIS system, creates an order and downloads this. They then open the Barloworld option from SAP, which controls uploading their saved parts list, parsing it against the existing catalogue and applying business rules which will result in the order being posted to SAP.
